She received her Doctor of Health Education from A.T. Still University’s School of Health Management and her Masters of Counseling degree from Arizona State University. She has completed the two-year training program at the Post Graduate Institute for Family Therapy and is a former faculty member of the Institute for Creative Change. She was a faculty member of the University of Phoenix where she taught in the Master of Counseling Program and was awarded Outstanding Teacher of the year by the students.  In all aspects of her teaching she utilizes a collaborative approach and thoroughly enjoys learning with her students.
 
 
Dr. Ellis has been in clinical practice in the Phoenix area for over 30 years. Her clinical areas of interest include relational therapy, women's issues, medical education and enhancing coping and adjustment to chronic and critical illness.  Another part of her clinical practice is devoted to critical incident and stress management.  She is passionate about her work in that area which challenges the more traditional pathology driven model by inviting people into more resilient and resourceful solutions.
 
 
Dr. Ellis is the Behavioral Science Director for the Scottsdale Health Care Family Medicine Residency Program, in Scottsdale, Arizona where her academic interests include collaborative and relationship centered care, physician satisfaction, the process of change and the social construction of illness, and the electronic medical record as it relates to the doctor – patient relationship.
